While Nitto’s original Terra Grappler reached widespread success in the all-terrain tire market, by its discontinuation in 2014, it’d been on the market for over a decade. In the years since the tire’s initial release, compounds and engineering improved drastically, leading Nitto to scrap their tried-and-tested Terra Grappler for a new iteration: The Terra Grappler G2.
Nitto’s second Terra Grappler rendition follows similar styling cues to its predecessor; however, you’ll find improvements throughout. Starting with the compound, Nitto introduced an all-new formula for 2014, prolonging tread wear while maintaining grip in wet, slick conditions. As a result, Nitto rates the Terra Grappler G2 for a minimum of 50,000 miles, with hard metric sizes receiving a whopping 65,000-mile rating!
Treadwear isn’t the only improvement area; the Terra Grappler G2 features precision-engineered tread and sidewall designs, ensuring maximum on and off-road traction. The tire’s reinforced coupling joints significantly bolster block edge rigidity to improve overall strength. Full-depth siping improves flexibility and optimizes wear while maintaining a stylish appearance throughout the tire’s usable life.
If traction is a concern, Nitto has you covered. The Terra Grappler G2 features staggered shoulder lugs, allowing the tire to claw and bite through loose dirt, sticky mud, and other treacherous conditions. The Terra Grappler also receives a 3PMS (3-Peak Mountain Snowflake) Winter rating, ensuring maximum traction in wet, icy, and snowy conditions.
Aside from performance, the Nitto Terra Grappler G2 offers outstanding ride quality. The tire features variable-pitch tread blocks, offering a quiet and comfortable ride on pavement. The Terra Grappler G2 also looks great, featuring a classic all-terrain tread pattern with oversized tread blocks and deep grooves. Nitto even provides consumers with two tread patternsclassic ‘thunderbolt’ and aggressive ‘blade’ patternsto fine-tune aesthetics.
